It is crafted from a blend of three single malts from Speyside’s most iconic distilleries: Glenfiddich, Balvenie, and Kininvie. Unlike many blends, Monkey Shoulder is made entirely from malt whisky, with no grain whiskies included, which gives it a rich, malty character The name "Monkey Shoulder" is a tribute to the traditional malt whisky-making process. Historically, maltmen would turn the barley by hand, often leading to a condition where their arms would hang down like a monkey's, hence the name​.
