And that was exactly what we were looking for when, with a group of enthusiastic family grape-growers in the ancient Languedoc region, they set out to create Le Grand Noir. A range of wines that would make perfect partners for a wide range of dishes, or to drink by themselves. Wines to serve at a dinner party or with a barbecue or a picnic on the beach. Every bottle of Le Grand Noir comes exclusively from our land, tended by vignerons for over 2,000 years. What makes them unique is the care we take in marrying grapes from individual vineyards to produce wines that are always full of flavour, but never too powerful or alcoholic. And welcome everywhere. The blend of rich blackcurranty Cabernet and brambley, gently peppery Syrah makes this a very distinctive wine. The vanilla character of the oak is present but subtle, and the tannins are softer than in many Cabernets. A very luxurious drink; silky and satisfying.
